The Adult Education Program's mission at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is to assist adult learners to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency. The Adult Education program serves the diverse needs of our learners by providing the following classes: ESL, ABE/ASE, Citizenship, Computer, Career Exploration, Small Business, Culinary Pathways. Paraeducator Pathways, Family Literacy and Tutoring. We are seeking an English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor who will support clients in providing ESL training for those for whom English is not their primary language to develop and enhance abilities to function within their communities. Shift. The Instructor will work a full-time schedule with the options of either Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM OR Monday - Thursday 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM. The Citizenship class is scheduled Tuesday-Thursday, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Zoom and an ESL class Monday -Thursday, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM on Zoom. We offer flexible a hybrid schedule where you will work remotely when teaching classes and are at the office once a week for meetings. Salary for this role. Starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi-weekly.
About you. The ideal candidate will have passion and previous experience working with immigrant and refugee populations. This instructor should be comfortable with internet-based computer programs, providing highly engaging on-line classes to students. Candidates must have at least two (2) years of teaching experience with a focus on adult education. Previous teaching in multi-level / multi-cultural class setting is required. Having an Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) before hire would be a plus, but is not required to get started in the role. Responsibilities:
